Taiwan 7N6D May 2015 - Day 1

My flight to Taiwan was 0125 in the morning on the 18 of May. So we had to head to the airport, KLIA at night on the 17 May. We went to Paradigm Mall to get a bus straight to KLIA since it is cheaper. There is a Aerobus Counter near the entrance and that is the bus we took to KLIA. Do remember to checkout their bus trip timetable and it would be better to call and check whether there are still seats available before getting there. The ride took us an hour and cost only RM10. Next, since we have checked-in using web earlier that day so we just need to print out the boarding pass and give them when we drop our baggage at the counter.

We headed MC Donalds right after that cause our stomach was flatter for not eating after lunch.

We didn't know what can we do so we just tour around the airport. My brother suggested us to head back to the place the bus drop us because there was a football match. So we spent our time there and went back to the airport main hall at 0040.

It is time to board on Malaysia Airline - MH 408 at 0110 for flight at 0125.

15minutes after the plane took off, we have been serve food. It was around 0230 after our meal and it's time to sleep(only around 2.5hours). Something good about midnight flight is we are able to see the beautiful sun rise early in the morning but it is quite tiring because you don't get to sleep well to charge energy for the day's activities.

Our initial plan was to buy a sim card at 0800 and so our HSR is at 0921. However, my uncle lend us his Taiwan number after buying HSR ticket through net. So we just walked around the airport and HSR station and chitchat will waiting for the time to pass. We took Ubus 705, 30nt per person and only took us 15minutes from airport terminal 1 to Tao Yuan HSR station.

     

  

After 1.5hours of journey, we arrived at Zuo Ying HSR station. Then we would need to head to MRT station of Zuo Ying which is 5minutes walk away only. the journey from Zuo Ying station to our hostel, San Duo Shopping District station is just 15minutes. Upon reaching, we head to exit 2 to put our luggage at our hostel's office at the 35 floors building.

After putting it at the office, we head back to MRT station to Formosa Boulevard station and transit to Xi Zi Wan station.
Before heading to Xi Zi Wan station, we had our lunch opposite Formosa Boulevard Station exit 11 if I'm not mistaken. The three bowls of noodle below costs 180nt.




We headed to XiZiWan Station right after that so that we could cover more places. When we reach the station and heading towards exit 1, there is a stall which sells bicycle and they gave us a map when we passby. The map was really useful and is tour guide in Xi Zi Wan. We planned to rent bicycles but we ended up thinking that places are in short walking distance and so we could just enjoy the place at the mean time.

After passing through the tunnel, it is Zhong Shan University. We was a little lost and we aren't sure where is it infront of the university. We was wondering should we go back to the tunnel but it is quite a long tunnel. Few minutes later, we saw a bus  so we ran and ask whether is it going to the England Council Administration Hall. The bus driver says yes so we just board on and we reach there around 5 minutes of ride only. The scenery after getting down the bus was so beautiful and we stay there for a while to snap some pictures. The place is known as the compound of Zhong Shan University too.

       

The England Council Administration Hall is somewhere near this place but entrance fee is needed and we need to climb up pretty high stair case(judging from what we see from outside) so we decided not to go there and continue our walk.

After few minutes walk, we saw this on our left with a lot of tourist and on the left is Whistle bow Park (哨船头公园 ). Then we saw a bridge infront and we cross over a river (we cross the river by walking through the tunnel earlier).

 

You will see the entrance to the Qi Jing (picture above) after crossing the bridge and ice-blended shop down the street. We ordered mango ice-blended - 65nt

We were so tired after that but we told ourselves that we wouldn't want to miss another place, Art Center.

The Art Center is near the second exit of Xi Zi Wan station. You could see old train on the track and beside it is a big field. That is the place we went and the place is really artistic.

 

After Half day spent at Xi ZI Wan, it is time for dinner with close ones. Therefore, we left that station at 6.00pm.

This end first day at Taiwan and also Gao Xiong.

We went back to the place we put our luggage at to get our key to our room which costs 1299nt for 3 person.

I apologize for the low quality of the picture of my room but I would recommend everyone that will be heading to Gao Xiong to stay here. Although it is a double room and I added a bed, the room is still spatial. they provide a coffee table, sofa, cupboard, make-up table, refrigerator, and a small kitchen outside the toilet. Something that need to be careful of is the slippery toilet after bathing, do take note ya.
